"My mother -whom I love- believes that it’s a real snake, which talked to the first woman on earth. She was made from the rib of the first man created by God about 6000 years ago, who later sent his son, through a virgin. This God knows everything because he created everything: the whole universe with its extraordinary complexity, planets, galaxies, the amazing principle of life, the incredible range and variety of flora and fauna… So why would this supreme intelligence and being make mistakes in his book? Like say he created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th, if it weren't true?" This autumn Modern Art Oxford dedicates a weekend to live performance art, reigniting the Gallery’s past history of performance with a host of work by an international cast of artists, both emerging and established. Following the Gallery’s recent refurbishment, Night & Day inhabits and explores every corner of the Modern Art Oxford building with live performances, screenings and artists’ talks. Organised in collaboration with the Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, supported by EACEA (Education Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency), ELAA (European Live Art Archive) and the Austrian Cultural Forum London. Performances, Talks & Screenings Friday 26 November, 7pm – 10pm Saturday 27 November, 10am – 10pm Gary Stevens in conversation with Brian Catling. Jayne Parker screening and in conversation with Tracey Warr. booking and more info on MODERN ART OXFORD website |
